Nothing spells luxury quite like haute couture, so when Couture Fashion Week comes our hearts quiver with both excitement and longing for the pieces we can only dream of ever owning. For those of you that don't understand the difference between haute couture fashion week, and regular fashion week – haute couture is high end fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high quality, expensive, and often unusual fabrics with extreme attention to detail.
Look at haute couture as a celebration of the art of dressmaking, allowing designers to really push the boundaries beyond the practical. Nothing screams exclusive like haute couture as each hand made piece is unique.
From Chanel to Dior, and even Elie Saab – Paris Couture Week lets our childhood princess dreams come true. In true Beauty Run nature, we summarised the best pieces from the week long extravaganza:
Chanel:
Karl Lagerfeld did the damn thing in this spectacular presentation, with of course Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Lily Rose-Depp turning up to walk in the show. Kendall floated down the runway wearing SUCH an elegant dress, so much that we froze. The plunging neckline dress which consisted of sewn on silver sequins, and a rim of feathers around the knees was absolutely stunning. In true Chanel fashion, the classic two piece suits made an appearance. The glitzy two piece pictured above definitely turned heads, and my oh my, we'd give ANYTHING to have this in our wardrobe.
Givenchy:
Although we wasn't that blown away with Givenchy's Haute Couture Spring 2017 collection, one look in particular had us so blown away we just had to give it some recognition. The feather and the lace all so intricately stitched on sent shivers down our spines (literally). As you can tell, we're drawn to pastel colours for spring, and well this look did it ALL. The bold feather detail in the centre was a lavish design choice by Riccardo Tisci, and successfully took the show.
Elie Saab:
Elie Saab never fails to blow us away. His dresses are so dreamy they make us feel like we're in a real life fairytale. The sheer materials Saab tends to use, along with the intricate embellished jewels scream opulence. The second look we picked just above is absolutely beautiful – the masculine choice of jumpsuit along with the structured shoulders are made to look soft and feminine with the pastel pink colour choice and the rich embellished detail in the centre. The flowing wide leg's, along with the maxi overcoat adds a dainty feel. Overall Saab did well, and rightly so... we need him to make us the whole collection.
